The second version of ToDo is almost finished. There are just some small improvements to be made, but most of the functionality is up running. Some of the functions however will be delayed somewhat due to extensive traveling, holidays and what not.

In this new verison the interface allows for easier interpreations of what you have in front of you. It should also be a lot faster than the previous version. Chose between viewing week, month or day, or maybe take a look at your notes. All of this is easily accessible through the intuitive interface. So far the beta-testing shows that the software is almost where it should be and thus I allow myself to call it “almost finished”.

All your tasks and apointments will soon be ready for downloading and importing to your phone or other devices that uses the iCalendar format. This extends the usability of ToDo and allows for use on-the-go! Soon you’ll be able to email tasks to ToDo and even have ToDo email reminders to you. The integrated address book makes sure that you have all the information you need when you need it. Download your contacts and import them to your phone or other address books.

It is true indeed! The second version of ToDo is around the corner, although only in beta the new version contains a whole variety of new features. The release date is still unknown, but soon and hopefully around January 2006.

Some new features

• Week view
• New design that allows for easy interpretation and better readability
• Event manager
• Task manager
• Address book (yet to be implemented)
• Notebook

The most important feature, which is yet to be implemented, is the ability to download tasks as iCalendar-files, which then can be imported using programs such as iCal for Mac or the alike. For the address book the user will be able to download each contact as a vCard-file which can be imported in most address book programs – and even some mobile phones.

More information will be posted in due time, when these features have been implemented and most bugs have been removed.

The ToDo blog has now been shifted from Hvassing.com to ToDo.wordpress.com. I’ll post every new event, function and etc. that I add to my humble software. These news will be available in ToDo for my users to enjoy. So I guess I can already add News-reader to my function list.

I’ve planned to make a RoadMap as a way of figuring out what I want and what I’ll have to do. It will also help the other users see what will happen and make it easier for them to make suggestions.

For quite a long time now I’ve been writing on my bathroom mirror in order to remember myself of various different things that needs to be done. This helps me sort my thoughts and keep my life organised. In addition to my mirror I have a small, black book, or rather a diary which I carry around almost wherever I’m going. But this again is not very efficient in terms of tasks that are due some time in advance, nor can I write additional text to the task. What to do, what to do…

It all started when the great guy known as Martin Jonè asked me if I knew of any schedule software, preferably a web application so that he could access it from where ever he was – most often at school or home. As I didn’t know of any such software and had touched the idea several times of making my own such software I offered to make Martin one. Four days later the software was up running, one week later the site had actually turned useful.

I am currently working on making this site even more useful by adding functions for easier adding and retrieval of tasks. The Share-task feature will be enhanced and improved, but the area that needs the most attention is the design of the site itself. As usual my designing skills are not what they should have been.
